Spring has finally made its way to the wintry tundra of Northwest Ohio. With that, golf clubs get dusted, birds reappear, flowers begin to bloom, grass turns green, shade appears once again under the maple tree, the sun comes out and we spend more time outdoors. With more time spent outdoors, we began to see the toll that the Fall and Winter of 2014-2015 have taken on property. We soon come to the realization that there is much to do around the home. Well, let’s stop and take a moment to think about those not as fortunate as us, and the work and chores that they have laid before them as a result of the wintry blast! There are many groups and organizations that rely on the help of service clubs such as ours to assist in maintaining their properties and facilities and keeping them looking nice. As a service organization, we should do our part for our community by volunteering some of our time to help maintain and beautify the area around us. My request today is to have you come up with some ideas as to what group(s) we may be able to help out. If you have any ideas, please forward them on to Laura Moore or to me.
Speaking of ways to preserve and beautify our community, our speaker this week is Judy Hagen. Rotarians with school-aged kids may know her as the Recycling Lady! Judy will be speaking about the recycling program for residents and suggestions for business recycling opportunities as well as upcoming programs and projects.
And one last way to recycle is our Community Garage Sale. We can give new life to clothing and home items we no longer want and help the community is several ways. The sale will be on Saturday, May 30, at the Commodore Building, from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. We will be accepting donations of furniture, tools, household items, gently-used clothing, etc. for the entire week leading up to the event. Chair Rick Gilts is also recruiting Rotarians to assist with pick-ups of donations on the Saturdays in May prior to the sale and the evenings of May 26-29. Please contact Rick Gilts at richardgilts@gmail.com to volunteer to help or to let him know of a large item pick up.
As we say farewell to winter, there is a lot yet to do this Rotary Year. Thanks for your help and energy!

On May 22, our regular luncheon meeting is dedicated to prospective members. We want to fill the Carranor with your friends and colleagues to show them the fellowship we enjoy and the opportunities to serve with us as Rotarians. We will follow up with every guest who attends this meeting to talk about Rotary and how they can get involved to serve alongside us.
No cost. No obligation. No heavy sales pitch. We want just want people to see one of our great Friday meetings, enjoy time with some new people, learn a little about what we do and open the door to a conversation about how new people can join our leaders, exchange ideas, and take action to make Perrysburg and our larger communities stronger and more vibrant.

Remember to e-mail the make up to the club or to turn in your make up slip to the sergeant-at-arms table on Friday.
