Welcome to the 2015-2016 Rotary Year! We are excited to take on this new year and embrace our new theme for the year, Be a Gift to the World.
This first week in July, will be a down week for the club. We will not be meeting on Friday July 3rd. Our regularly scheduled meetings will resume on Friday, July 10th with guest speakers Tracy Rickman and Annette Sipp.
FINAL THOUGHTS FROM OUR OUTGOING 37th PRESIDENT, JONATHAN AHLBERG:
As I mentioned last Friday at Charter Night, Perrysburg Rotary Club is an amazing organization and our members are the Best! Whether you know it or not, whenever we go to District meetings or even the Presidents meeting for greater Toledo area, the Perrysburg Club is talked up as one of the most successful clubs and one that serves as an example of what a Rotary Club should be like. The fact that our per capita donations to Rotary International were 222% of the District 6600 average goes to show just what type of commitment to being a Rotarian each and every one of you has.
When you think about what this club has done and accomplished over the last thirty years it is nothing short of remarkable. You have affected so many lives of people you may never have the opportunity to meet. Perfect examples of how you have changed the lives of others are shown in the eyes and faces of the young girls of the Deborah House in Romania. The sparkle in their eyes and the smiles on their faces are infectious. You can see the difference this club has helped make in their hopes and dreams for the future. They have been given love, a sense of self-worth, and new opportunities along with a roadmap for success. Among the many success stories the Club has contributed to that are closer to home are the Strive and Day by Day Programs, Rotary Park, the Cocoon Shelter, the PCU Pantry and many more. These are just a few of the many things that make me proud to be called a Rotarian.
As I close my year as President and take on the coveted title of “Past President”, I want to extend a warm thank you to all, for your encouragement, for your support, for your Service Above Self and for your contributions to Perrysburg Rotary Club. All of these things contribute to the success of the greatest Rotary Club in the world, Perrysburg Rotary Club. I am humbled and honored to have been given the opportunity to serve. Looking forward to the 2015-2016 year, as a club, we are blessed to have Jennifer take on her new role as President. Jennifer will do an incredible job and I know and trust that you will all be as supportive to her as you have been to me.

CHARTER NIGHT RECAP- Over 120 guests enjoyed the annual changing of the guard last Friday night at Belmont Country Club. If you were unable to attend, please take a moment to read the INCOMING REMARKS from our 38th Club President, Jennifer Fehnrich.
SOCIAL @ SOCIAL- We had 18 Rotarians and three spouses last Monday at our first after work event. We hope to see more of you on the Fourth Monday of July (27th).
CLUB GIVING- Check out our year in review for contributions to Rotary International.
And tomorrow we celebrate! Our Charter Night dinner begins with Attitude Readjustment at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at Belmont Country Club. Carolyn and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow night for fellowship, sharing some recognition of members with perfect attendance, and honoring people with Paul Harris Fellowships for their support of The Rotary Foundation. We have exceeded our annual giving goal and have raised almost $16,000! I cannot tell you how proud and grateful I am for this achievement!
Remember - lunch is on your own but dinner is with your Rotary Family.

Our first Rotary Social @ Social Gastropub will be held on Monday, June 22 from 5-7 pm. Stop by after work for a beverage with fellow Rotarians. In addition to the awesome company, this also serves as a meeting make-up! This will be happening each month on the fourth Monday so mark your calendar!

Are you a bike rider? Join the 11th Annual MESA Bike Tour around District 6600 from June 20-25th and raise money to send medical supplies to those who need them most. You can ride one day or the whole thing...part of the fun is the fellowship with other riders around the District.
Perrysburg Rotary has often supported this event by hosting riders on a food/water break but has not had a rider in the last few years. If you would like to ride and represent the club, be sure we will find a way to support you financially!
Over the past year, we have become more organized about our classification roster. Our goal was both to streamline classifications as well as to make it easier to have a sense of those potential classifications that are unfilled so we might work to recruit qualified individuals from these vocations.
Step one is to make sure that each member is comfortable with their classification in the instances where it has been restated due to career changes. In Rotary, classifications are based both on what a person does as well as on where he or she works. A great example might be Tami Wise. Tami is a new Rotarian this year who works for Fifth Third Bank. The banking classification is very nearly full! (Remember, Rotary Clubs may not have more than 10% of it's membership in a single classification so it can retain vocational diversity.) Because Tami's position at Fifth Third is in Human Resources Management, you would see that her classification reflects what she does and not where she does it.

This summer and throughout the coming Rotary year, the Membership Committee is going to share open classifications with you in the hopes that it might spark some ideas of who you can invite to consider Rotary in Perrysburg. Remember, the Membership Committee is here to help talk you through the process and will even help make the ask!
Having a tough time making our Friday meetings? We miss you when you’re not here but it’s easy to honor your commitment to meeting the 50% attendance requirement and meet new people. Click HEREto be directed to the Club Finder on Rotary’s webpage. You can enter a zip code and a distance range, select day and time of meeting, and get that make up submitted. Remember to e-mail the make up to the club or to turn in your make up slip to the sergeant-at-arms table on Friday. You can even use Club Finder to find an E-Club and get that make up at any time from home or work.
