Rotarians,
More than 60 years ago, in the midst of the Great Depression, a U.S. Rotarian named Herbert J. Taylor devised a simple, four-part ethical guideline that helped him rescue a failing business. The principles it embodied also helped many others find their own ethical compass. Soon embraced and popularized by Rotary International, The Four-Way Test today stands as one of the organization’s hallmarks and is recited at the end of every Perrysburg Rotary club meeting.
At this week’s meeting we will have the opportunity to hear how several Perrysburg High School students have summarized the Four Way Test in the form of a 5-7 minute speech on a relevant topic. The winner of our local contest represented Perrysburg very favorably at the District Conference in Sandusky, OH and we can wait to hear her award winning speech!
Here are some other things you need to know about Perrysburg Rotary this week:
NEW SECRETARY- At this week’s board meeting, Dick Sipp was appointed as Club Secretary effective July 1, 2015. In his role Dick will be responsible for the oversight of Club membership records and will be working closely with our new Administrator, Ashley Lopez. We thank Dick for his continued service to our club and look forward to having him join the board.
GARAGE SALE- Pick-ups are still happening regularly. Contact Rick Gilts if you know of someone who would like a pick up. Rotarians should plan to bring their own items directly to the Commodore Monday-Friday the week before the sale.
PAST PRESIDENTS- Don’t forget about your meeting tonight (Thursday) at Belmont!
PROSPECTIVE MEMBER LUNCHEON- Don’t forget to bring a guest to next week’s meeting! We are going hear from Perrysburg Schools about the Day-By-Day Reading program that our club funded this school year. I guarantee you are going to feel so proud to be a Perrysburg Rotarian when you hear about the tremendous impact our contributions have made in the lives of third graders in our district. It’s the perfect meeting to explain to a prospective member what it really means to be a Rotarian.
CHARTER NIGHT- Invitations are printing and mailing in the next few days. Join us June 19th as we celebrate another year of making a difference in the world!
Yours in Rotary,
Jon
