Stories
I am feeling especially proud to be a member of the Perrysburg Rotary Club this week!   Rotarians, you have raised the bar once again. The Rotary Water Walk was a huge success and it's all because of you.  Nearly 60 people participated to bring awareness to the clean water crisis, which is one of the six areas of focus for Rotary International.  This event was spurred by the Rollin' with Rotary road trip that RI Director Jennifer Jones and 5 other young Rotarians have embarked upon.  They are traveling from PA to IA and making stops along the way -- all with the mission of raising awareness around the good works that Rotary and Rotarians accomplish. And we certainly fulfilled this mission in Perrysburg, OH! We were able to successfully gain media coverage of the Rotary Water Walk in both print and media.  Please take a moment to read the articles and view the newscast (links below).

We kicked off the event with remarks from Jennifer Jones and District 6600 Governor Gary Newton.  Mayor Michael Olmstead also presented a proclamation declaring August 4, 2015 as "Rotary Clean Water Day".  This was a nice touch prior to the walk starting. Thank you, Mayor!

Meanwhile, I must say a few more thank you's.  First, to all Rotarians who participated - thank you.  You stepped up and took time out of your work and home schedules to help make the event a success.  You are all appreciated.  A special thank you to Ellie McManus, Jill Perry Smith and Bruce Samuelson who secured donations and gave personal donations for food and beverages.  Thanks also to Kevin Rantanen and several other Rotarians who helped organize the bucket brigade at the river front and transport buckets back and forth.  Bob & Jackie Venzel, and Jim Euting opened their homes to the Rollin' with Rotary Crew and Rob & Kristi Fox opened their home as well. Thanks again to ALL Rotarians for your efforts toward yet another successful Rotary event!
Yours In Rotary,
Jennifer

Our next major event for this month is our 19th Annual Perrysburg Rotary Golf Outing on August 14th!  We are a little more than two weeks away from the event and we need all of your help!

What we need:
  • GOLF TEAMS:  Grab your friends and set up your teams for this afternoon of fun!  The cost is $125.00 per person (includes lunch, golf, carts, prizes and 19th hole appetizers).
  • HOLE SPONSORSHIPS:  A hole sponsorship is $125.00.
(Click here for the online registration form)

(As a reminder:  we will not be meeting at the Carranor for our weekly meeting on August 14th.  We will be meeting at the Belmont Country Club prior to the golf outing.)

A RECAP OF LAST WEEK'S MEETING (July31, 2015) - Prak Naik shared with the members that he is co-sponsoring an educational program in late August about work-life balance.  Restoring Emotional Balance in the Workplace: The Mindful Prescription will be held at the Inverness Club on August 26.  To learn more about this event, contact Prak directly or pick up a flyer at the Sergeant at Arms' table.  Judge Osterud graciously filled in as our Fine Master and enlightened the group with a quiz of "Guess the Rotarian" .  To wrap up our program for the week, we listened to a presentation about the Wood County Teen Court Program.  Wood County Prosecutor and Rotarian Paul Dobson, Brandy Hartman and William Robinson gave us a brief history and description of the program and how it is impacting the youth receiving the services.

THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM (August 5, 2015) - Our guest speaker will be Dana Nemeth from the Wood County Historical Museum.
